Engagement Session in the Rain

August 31, 2023

I drove to Jade’s family home last week to meet her and John for engagement photos. They were visiting from Georgia, jet lagged and running on 2 hours of sleep, but overjoyed to see their family and to be back in Vermont.

I was greeted by their moms, who immediately offered me refreshments and rain boots to wear. It’s so lovely to see families who are involved in the wedding process. It’s clear that the families are close, which is also amazing to see.

Jade’s parents, avid gardeners, landscaped their property immaculately and we took photos right there. It started raining heavily toward the end of our session, and to my surprise, Jade and John opted to forgo umbrellas. They let themselves embrace the moment completely, and I absolutely loved their attitude. The warm rain was extremely romantic, and exploring the nooks and crannies of her parents’ orchard did not feel like work. Jade and John happily ran around with me, chatting and laughing the entire time. Their easy way makes sense; they’ve been long distance before, and you can tell they are expert communicators because of that.

Jade and John, I am so happy for you two– congratulations! And thank you for having me last week. XO!
