Barefoot & Boho in Brownington, VT: The Pray Wedding!

*Blog photos are not high-res.*

On a beautiful sunny day in August, Mikayla and Brandon exchanged vows beneath a willow tree in Brownington, Vermont.

I love DIY weddings. But there's DIY and then there's DIY. Wedding photographers themselves, Mikayla and Brandon knew exactly the right decor and details to include. Mikayla's aesthetic turns toward Bohemian, and the knits draping on the tables and the flowing, fragrant flowers (beautifully designed by Mikayla's stepmother, Heather Brubaker McAllister) made this intimate wedding feel magazine-worthy.

I was slightly obsessed with the flowers placed near the card basket and the hand-painted bird houses that Mikayla made with her stepson for the table centerpieces. (This loving detail tells you a lot about Mikayla. Her kids mean everything to her, and their hugs light up her face.) Their onyx-black wedding rings were a welcomed detail that I was excited to photograph.

The wedding was at Mikayla's grandmother's property in the sprawling farm county in Brownington Village, Vermont. Mountain landscapes surrounded the property, with some of the oldest conifers you'll see in Vermont, and cows in the neighbor's fields.

The wedding ceremony was officiated by Mikayla's stepbrother, and the photo below of the groom and Mikayla's stepbrother seeing her walk down the aisle is one of my favorites. He did a beautiful job officiating. I loved the quirky rocking and arm chairs that Mikayla lovingly placed for the ceremony. It added that boho charm that is classic (but also SO Mikayla).

Mikayla's family are some of the best people you'll ever meet. They'll hug you when they meet you and get to know you (Mikayla's memere was showing my assistant family baby photos within 5 minutes of meeting him). They make you feel WELCOME. They make sure you're fed, happy, and having a damn good time. I appreciated their help and joyful attitudes on Mikayla's special day.

The newlywed portraits are my favorite part of the day, and I had trouble choosing my favorite images for this blog post. Mikayla and Brandon have a VERY unique relationship, and in between them picking on each other and swearing (lovingly) at each other, I got some great laughter and romantic moments captured between them.

Mikayla and Brandon, I hope you love these images as much as I do. Your wedding was one for the books! CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!
