Judi and Rob had a beautiful ceremony at the Malletts Bay Congregational Church in mid-September. The light ceilings and large window made for a romantic spot for Judi and Rob to exchange vows and become husband and wife! I was lucky enough to spend a few hours with Judi and Rob on the special day, and with their hilarious and sweet families.
I had met Judi and Rob months prior in a coffee shop on a sweltering hot day. Even though my hair was sticking to my face while I tried to act cool, Judi looked GORGEOUS. She commands any room she is in with her beauty and calm personality. Through our meeting, I learned that she does amazing work in human services, which is admirable and speaks to Judi's big heart. During our meeting I noticed how big of a sweetheart Rob is, too-- and one thing I noticed was that he was so respectful of Judi. He asked for her opinion about every detail of our wedding timeline, not wanting to step on Judi's toes with planning. He was open to all of my suggestions and I could really see why they clicked in the first place.
My favorite part of the wedding was the newlywed portraits after the ceremony. (This is where I get to witness the special moments between the newlyweds, as they are still basking in that "just married" glow.) Judi and Rob were so SILLY together! They joked around, and even though family members were already getting to the reception location at a nearby inn, they tried to take a moment to just relax and let it all sink in. Seeing them interact made me feel so lucky to get to photograph couples like them.
Can I interrupt myself to discuss Judi's VEIL?!? IT WAS SPECTACULAR. I could have photographed Judi in her veil all. day. long.
Another special detail was the mini bride, which Judi explained was rooted in her Haitian tradition. The mini bride wears a white dress and walks down the aisle-- almost like a preview at the movies. She basically says to the crowd, "the bride is on her way!" I loved this detail because hey-- who wouldn't want to photograph TWO white dresses? This crowd was also VERY well-dressed. I loved the floor length dresses the bridesmaids wore, and also the gowns and jewelry that the guests donned for this special occasion.
The reception was so much fun to photograph because this crowd could DANCE. I love dancing myself, so I got to bop along and photograph all of the flower girls and ring bearers dancing and having a blast. The DJ was great and had the crowd on their feet for hours.
Thank you, Judi and Rob, for a spectacular day. I hope that married life has been AMAZING! I can't wait to send you your wedding album!
