Newborn Photos with Baby Theo
I met Lilly, Thom, and their toddler Des in 2017 when Lilly and Thom tied the knot at the beautiful Tourterelle in New Haven, Vermont. I was absolutely over the moon when Lilly emailed me, announcing her pregnancy! I knew that this family had been wanting a baby so badly, and I was overjoyed to hear that baby Theo had arrived happy and healthy,
It meant a lot to me that this family stuck with me for their photos. The family traveled to Williston, Vermont and we met at Lilly's mother's house for some newborn photos. It was incredible to see how big Des had gotten and to catch up with Lilly. Seeing Lilly was like seeing an old friend, despite us only ever meeting in person on their wedding day. They live near Boston and could very easily find another photographer for their needs, but they waited until they could come to Vermont to take these. And to be honest, that realization was a big moment for me in my career! It helped me to see that despite some (completely normal for any entrepreneur!!) anxiety about how I'm doing and where I'm at in my photography career, I had people who would stick with me. And that means a lot.
And, you know that new baby smell? Yeah, Theo had it. He was such a bundle of energy and joy (I think it took 2 hours and 3 feedings to get him to sleep!). "Older" newborns (between 4-7 weeks old) are fun to photograph because they are so much more awake and alert than a new newborn. Photos taken at this age tend to be more "lifestyle," meaning that there will be plenty of the baby awake, with the family, and just hanging out--rather than more formal posed photographs. When Theo did sleep, we were able to gently pose him and get some of those classic shots.
Lilly and fam, thank you SO much for sharing Theo with me just for a few hours. I am so happy for you all!
