Shelby Pousland is the owner of Sweetest Thoughts Event Planning, a customizable wedding planning service based in Vermont. When she launched her business, we met up for a styled shoot, and I loved getting to know Shelby in the professional world. And then, when she contacted me to book me for her fall 2019 wedding, I was absolutely THRILLED.
Photographing a WEDDING PLANNER'S wedding? Hell to the yes.
I love scheduling engagement sessions for the opposite season of the couple's wedding season. So, since Shelby and Andy's wedding is in the fall, a winter engagement session was ideal. The white snow, later to be combined with their foliage wedding photos, will look great together on a gallery wall in her home! I love giving my clients lots of variety.
We met up at one of their favorite parks (Mills Riverside Park, in Jericho Vermont). With a covered bridge and a small pond, it was a quintessential Vermont location.
The snow was that crusty kind of snow, where you can walk on top of it until you suddenly go crashing through a foot or so to the ground. Not fun!! I was breaking a sweat walking out to a cute location, but Shelby and Andy didn't mind at all.
They brought their adorable pups with them for a few shots. It was fun to start with the dogs, because the focus was shifted to them and Andy and Shelby could relax in front of the camera. For the rest of the session, Andy was being ridiculously adorable towards Shelby. I would gently pose them, and without me even asking he would gently kiss her cheek or tuck a stray hair behind her ear. These simple, loving gestures not only photographed well-- they told a story about who this couple really is, and why they chose each other forever.
Shelby and Andy, thank you so much for a special engagement session. I had a blast. And I CAN'T WAIT for your beautiful fall wedding!
