Ashlee + Derek’s Scituate Lighthouse Elopement

On the same rocky coastline where Derek proposed, he and Ashlee tied the knot on August 17, 2020!

You might remember these sweeties from our fall session last year. I adored them from the start, and though they weren’t engaged yet, Derek told Ashlee that he had a plan. And sure enough, they quickly got engaged and planned their summer elopement. Ashlee and Derek put this together in THREE weeks, and the details (matching yellow Converse, a delicate flower crown, beautiful vows) blew me away. (Ashlee is also a photographer and knew exactly what her vision was: classic yet unique, elegant yet fun. My absolute favorite.)

The weather at the Scituate Lighthouse was perfect. “I’m a hint nervous, but 99% excited,” Derek told me right before their first look. Passersby whispered, “Isn’t the bride beautiful! Look at her gown,” as we took photos in the golden glow with the seascape behind us. It was a magical day that inspired me photographically, but also reminded me of why I do what I do. It’s easy to befriend Ashlee and Derek. They are welcoming, kind, and hilarious. They clearly prioritize their relationships with each other and their friends most. You sort of get this glow-y feeling around them, and the chemistry they have together is such a joy for me to capture on camera.
